Arro-Jet Engineering and Consulting - Camarillo, CA

When Jose Luis Arce's longtime employer decided to retire and close his waterjet shop in 2007, Arce decided to put his 10 years of waterjet cutting, programming and mechanical engineering experience to work by starting up his own business, Arro-Jet Engineering and Consulting of Camarillo, Calif.

Arce bought his former employer's Jet Edge waterjet cutting machine and quickly established himself as a leading waterjet cutting shop in Southern California with very little advertising other than his website and his well-established reputation for cutting complicated parts quickly and precisely. In addition to his job shop cutting services, Arce, who has a mechanical engineering degree, also provides engineering consulting services to other waterjet users.

Arro-Jet has grown so rapidly, Arce had to install a second Jet Edge waterjet in 2008, a 6'X10' High Rail Gantry. In 2009, he decided to add a 30"X30" Jet Edge Abrasive Machining Center waterjet system to cut small parts. Both of Arro-Jet's High Rail Gantry waterjets feature multiple cutting heads for increased productivity.  He powers his systems with three Jet Edge 60,000 psi intensifier pumps, including a 30HP, 50HP and 150HP pump.

"People just came to me," Arce said. "I haven't advertised. When I opened this business, I had customers already. People know me and know I have a good reputation and industry knowledge. Business has been steady. Fifty percent of my business is from people who knew me in the past and 50 percent is new."

Arro-Jet specializes in handling complicated jobs that other water jet shops cannot undertake, Arce noted.  It sets itself apart by producing quality parts in a timely fashion.

"If they want it tomorrow, they will have it tomorrow," Arce said. "I never turn a job away."

Arro-Jet cuts a wide variety of materials on its Jet Edge waterjets, including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, Hastelloy® and laminated woods.  It can cut plates up to 12' x 30'. Arro-Jet provides waterjet job shop work to anyone, but the majority of its customers are in the aircraft, chemical and oil industries.  Arce also cuts a variety of artwork and signs.

Arce noted that his Jet Edge waterjets have saved him time and money by enabling him to cut with multiple cutting heads and to tightly nest parts.

As an example, one of Arro-Jet's customers needed to have parts cut from 20 84"X40" 3" thick titanium plates valued at $50,000 a plate.  The customer expected to get nine parts out of each plate, but Arce tightly nested the parts and cut 10 parts from each plate.  The customer received 20 extra parts that they had not expected.

"That's the reason they come back," he noted.

Arce said he has had no regrets about buying all three of his waterjets from Jet Edge.

"I like jet Edge," he said. "I think I made a good decision. I like the way the machine is built. It looks like quality. I always recommend others to buy Jet Edge, and to prove it, I have three machines."

About Jet Edge's High Rail Gantry
Jet Edge's High Rail Gantry System produces complex parts out of virtually any material. Its overhead design allows full access to the work envelope and raises the critical components out of the process environment. The High Rail Gantry is available in 2' increments, from 4'X4' to 24'X14'. Multiple cutting heads can be added to increase productivity, and the system can be expanded in place.
